my story
Where it all started.
While in Salinas Ca, I had the opportunity, with the funding of the BTOP Grant, to work and head courses for Conexion Comunitaria/Community Connection in partnership with MCAET. These courses allowed me to develop and implement curriculum to teach Media, Technology and Basic Computer Skills to underprivileged youth and adults in the Monterey County.
Later I was invited to bring my curriculum and experience to open the first school that centered in teaching 21st Century learning and teaching in Media Education. This featured Animation, Narrative Filmmaking, Documentary Filmmaking and Studio Production.
What have I been up to?
This Winter and Spring Break, I had to opportunity kick off the inaugural class of students who take week long courses in Studio Production, Field Camera Use, and Video Editing. In a collaboration with MNN and George Washington High School in Manhattan, migrant students take these classes (in Spanish and English) to learn new methods of telling personal experiances stories for social justice using video production equipment.
